Guten Tag from Fabulous Frankfurt; May 11, 2013:
From the moment Sarah and Joe arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, they felt welcome. They were greeted by one of Sarah's dear friends and Harvard Business School Classmate, Dr. Peter Sewing. As Peter drove Sarah and Joe to his home town, Kronberg, the sights and beautiful landscape were captivating. The below picture captures perfectly the quaint feeling of this remarkable German town.
The next stop was the Schlosshotel Kronberg, which is a castle operating as a five-star hotel! The hotel is historically known as Friedrichshof and was built between 1889-1893. To stay in this historic and royal hotel is an experience of a lifetime.
Later that evening, Dr. Peter Sewing hosted a dinner in his family home. The meal was prepared by a phenomenal local chef and was served by the charming Daniele. As the evening progressed, Sarah was able to exchange in many wonderful conversations. She also shared with the group her mission as Mrs. International, her commitment to connect the burn community and her role in raising awareness for living a heart healthy life.
Sarah and Joe thoroughly enjoyed meeting and sharing in special conversations with unforgettable guests. Sincere appreciation goes to the guests: Mr. Raimund Trenkler and his wife Dr. Bettina Bauer, Ms. Robin Buck (originally from America and residing in Kronberg), Mr. Henrick Gockel and Ms. Barbara Lohse (both whom teach at the University of Frankfurt), Mr. Eberhard Carl Lange and his beautiful wife, Dr. Elizabeth Plowman (originally from Minnesota and now residing in Frankfurt), Christian Domnik, Franz Doer and Katharina Lange.
Exploring Germany; May 12-13, 2013:
The following morning started with a more comprehensive tour of the Sewing home and the magical setting of their property which borders a castle built more than eight centuries ago!
Not quite as old, but certainly as impressive was the next adventure at the Klassiker Probe Fahren und Automobile Meilensteine (Classic Car Display). Please enjoy the sampling pictures of classic cars (Joe's little bit of nirvana!).
After lunch in the industrial area of the car show, Peter took Sarah and Joe to downtown Frankfurt. Frankfurt is the financial mecca for Europe as it is home to both the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Deutshe Bank. Enjoy the sampling of vibrant pictures below.
After visiting Frankurt, Peter took Sarah and Joe to wine country via autobahn, which is German for "federal expressway." They visited three wineries, each with a distinct personality and all with views to die for!
After an amazing day with a most gracious host, Sarah and Joe returned to the Schlosshotel Kronberg. The next morning they enjoyed a quick meal before taking the train to Switzerland.
